Statement
The possibility embodied in the photograph, as a visual memory generator, is for me both hypnotizing and threatening at the same time. In my work, I move in between direct photography to actions of appropriation. Part of my photography stems from looking at familiar and close spaces. The appropriate actions include collecting still photographs, videos and texts that I find in conservation spaces such as the Kibbutz Archives and\or my private collection. Through this action, I examine the medium of photography as a space that moves in between possibilities: the appearance of mirage and fixation.
I choose areas and materials to which I identify and feel a biographical, personal, family and community connection. Despite their presence in generic spaces, I strive to create a unique memory and narrative for them. One that gives them validity and presence beyond their visual representation. Through the actions of reconstructing, disassembling and editing, I seek to re-illuminate and explore the obvious..
